Major winter storm will have two impacts that will cause significant concerns across East Idaho and Western Wyoming. First off is the snow. Since the storm is taking a more southern track, heavy snow and dangerous travel conditions can be expected anywhere south of a line from Boise to Pocatello and down into Utah. North of that line lighter snow showers can be expected but accumulations will be on the light side. Second impact will be the dangerously cold temps and wind chills. Beginning tonight, Arctic air will arrive across the region dropping temps well below zero and winds chills which will be much colder. Wednesday, 80% chance of snow, with partly sunny skies further north. Heavy snow and dangerous travel across the southern portion of the state with Highs near 15°. North northeast wind 10 to 20 mph. New snow accumulation of 1″-2″ inch possible in the Upper Snake River Plain and areas North. 4″-8″ of additional snow expected across the Southern Highlands. Wednesday Night, a 20% chance of snow, with a low around -10°. Dangerous wind chills are forecasted so be sure to dress apropriately if you must venture outside. WIND CHILL WARNING — A Wind Chill warning has been issued for Idaho Falls and areas to the north for Wednesday night and Thursday morning, Wind Chill values will range from -20° to -30°. Thursday, sunny skies with a high near 5°. Thursday Night, mostly clear with dangerously cold temps ranging from -5° in the south to -25° further north. Friday, mostly sunny skies with temps struggling to get above 0°.
