UPDATED: School Closures for Wednesday Jan. 4th
Update 1:50 pm: Pocatello/Chubbuck School District has announced that sporting events at the schools scheduled for tonight have been canceled. This includes the Pocatello/Highland and Century/Preston basketball games and the Pocatello/Bonneville wrestling match. The school district’s after school programs for the day have also been canceled.
Classes will be dismissed at normal times today.
District administrators have also made a preemptive decision to cancel classes in the district for Thursday. The decision was made because of current conditions and the amount of snow expected to fall overnight. All other school activities including sporting events that were planned for Thursday will also be canceled.
Update 1:45 pm: Idaho State University announced on Twitter that the Pocatello campus will be closed at 2:30 p.m. because of weather conditions. All classes for the rest of the day on the campus are canceled.
Update 1:15 p.m.: West Jefferson School District will be sending kids home early because of the blowing and drifting snow. Schools will close at 2 p.m. Games and practices are also being canceled for tonight.
Update 10:30 am: Shelley School District is still in session today for classes but school officials did announce that afternoon Kindergarten and Preschool classes would be canceled today.
Update 10:05 am: Snake River School District #52 has announced that they will be sending students home because of the winter storm. Buses are on their way now to take students home.
Original Story: Because of heavy snowfall, the Blackfoot school district #55 will send all students home early Wednesday. Buses will begin to run at 9:15 a.m.
Idaho Science and Technology Charter School in Blackfoot is also sending students home early. Parents may pick up kids immediately, but buses will begin bringing students home at 9:45 a.m.
