Blackfoot business shows appreciation for city’s snowplow workers

Snowplow drivers in Blackfoot were treated to a free lunch Thursday. The Downtown Bread Co. supplied the meal as the business’ way of saying thank you for all of the work and extra hours the city’s street crew puts in.

“My husband decided that he wanted to help out the road crew because there’s just been a vast amount of snow. They are doing a really good job. They get a lot of flak for it, too, but we appreciate it,” said Stephanie Pitman, owner of Downtown Bread Co.

Blackfoot’s street cleaning crew has been pressured over the past month. The Blackfoot public works director told KIFI/KIDK despite the complaints they may get, they still keep their heads high and do the best they can — spending holidays and extra hours to get the streets clear of snow.

“This is great that Downtown Bread Co. took an afternoon to feed us for a job well done. So I’d give it up to Downtown Bread. They’re taking care of us, like we try to take care of them,” said Brandon Whitworth, an operator for the city of Blackfoot’s street department.
