Police follow tracks in the snow to catch suspect

Idaho Falls Police followed tracks in the snow to find 37-year-old Scotty A. Larson hiding outside a residence in the 300 block of Hartert Thursday.

Police arrested Larson for grand theft, felony eluding and two misdemeanor warrants.

According to police, officers responded to a stolen vehicle report in the 400 block of North Lee at around 4 p.m. A 1994 GM Suburban was reported stolen.

Officers spotted Larson driving the Suburban westbound at 17th and Boulevard. They attempted to stop Larson, but he evaded police and abandoned the vehicle at Hartert and Lee.

Police found fresh shoe prints and tracked the man.

Larson was also arrested for grand theft in connection with the theft of a 2001 Ford truck from a welding lot on First Street on December 28, 2016.

In that case, police said they located the abandoned vehicle at Elva and Alameda and saw Larson running away. They were unable to locate Larson at that time.
