Pocatello sees more snow this winter than last two years

(KIFI/KIDK) If it seems like Pocatello has gotten a lot more snow this winter than years past, you are right. According to John Keyes, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, Pocatello has seen more snow this year, than the last two years.

Not only that, but the area already set a record this year.

“Right after Thanksgiving to right after New Years we based off the snowfall amounts we have here at the office. That is where we take the total we set a record for the quickest snowfall reaching our ‘normal’ and ‘above normal’ for the year,” Keyes commented.

Despite the increase in snow this year, some people are still enjoying the cold.

“I am from Starr Valley in Wyoming right over the hill, so I am used to pretty severe winters and this is a little bit more mild than I am used to,” said Kalen Booth, a new resident to Pocatello.

“I am definitely a winter person, I love the cold, I love the snow,” said Logan Mesia, who is familiar with Pocatello winters.
