Man arrested for hiding camera in female college housing

Rexburg Police arrested 23-year-old Devan J. MacCabe of Utah Friday on felony charges of video voyeurism. According to reports, police were called to the La Jolla Apartments after reports that a hidden camera was discovered, disguised as a towel hook. The device was mounted in the bathroom of a female college housing apartment. Captain Randy Lewis said six women live in the apartment at 65 South 1st West. MacCabe was involved with one of the women. They became suspicious of the device Friday and notified the apartment manager who then called police. La Jolla apartments host separated housing for both men and women. MacCabe lives at the complex. Lewis described the device as a two-pronged coat hook, about 4 inches long and a half-inch thick, with a small hole that housed the camera. Police believe it may have been mounted in the bathroom since December 19, 2016. Investigation of the incident and MacCabe is continuing.
