Bannock Co. Commissioners Move to Propose Interchange
Pocatello and Chubbuck may be getting a new neighbor.
As part of one of the first moves by the new Bannock County Commissioners, talks of building an interchange that will run from Siphon road in Chubbuck, to Olympus drive took place during today’s executive session.
They hope this will help spur development in that area.
“As the growth of Pocatello continues along with the economic opportunity, there is so much availability off that exchange and it would be a magnet for us to attract other businesses,” Bannock County Commissioner Chairman Evan Frasure said.
Frasure said so far the cities of Pocatello and Chubbuck are on board with the commissioners’ plan to plow forward with this interchange project, but since it’s still in the preliminary stages of this discussion, they still need to garner support from both the state and local businesses who could help fund the project.
“So much of our market is in the Bingham and Bonneville county areas,” Frasure added. “So, this opens up tremendous possibilities for us.”
At the moment, the commissioners said they have not yet discussed what else could pop-up in that area, but they did confirm there is room for development both commercially and residential.
