D93 chooses architectural firm for possible new elementary school.

In what was a relatively quick and efficient session, Bonneville School District 93 voted to approve an architectural firm to help design a new elementary school.

NBW Architects of Idaho Falls was chosen after it was recommended by a committee chosen by the D93 school board.

The architectural firm is a familiar one for the region, as it has designed several area schools including: South Fork, Afton, and Sunrise Elementary schools, as well as Rigby High School.

D93 School Board Chair Jeff Bird says the next step for the board is to pick a location, but recent discussions could change that.

“We may switch gears and actually go with a middle school instead,” said Bird. “We need another middle school in the district. Through realigning some of the grades, we may be able to solve overcrowding problems in all of those grades, kindergarten through eighth grade.”

Bird said the school board will look at growth and demand to see if the middle school option is better for the district. “There’s a chance we could go for an elementary school and a middle school,” said Bird.

Bird said he and the school board plan to address these possibilities over the next few months.
