Inversions should be coming to an end today with big changes ahead as a series of storms move through Idaho. Count on slightly warmer, but wetter days ahead for most of the region.
Tuesday, increasing clouds through the day with snow showers in the central mountains, along the continental divide, and near the ID/WY state line. The Snake River Plain might see a stray shower or two, but chances are only around 20%. Daytime highs in the 20’s and lower 30’s. Count on breezy winds throughout the day as well.
Tonight, snow likely with overcast skies and breezy conditions. Areas along I-15 can expect light accumulations of around an inch. Mountain valleys especially over the eastern highlands should see 2-4″ and even more up into the mountains. Chance of snow 70%.
Wednesday, mostly cloudy with widespread off-and-on rain/snow showers. Locations over 6500 feet near the ID/WY state line will see several inches of new snow, with a few isolated spots getting close to a foot. Mountain locations below 6500 feet will see about 3-6 inches of new snow. Valley locations will see a rain/snow mix with daytime highs in the low to mid-30’s. It will still be breezy for most of the region.
Thursday, more widespread rain/snow showers with the snow level rising to around 5000 – 5500 feet. Daytime highs in the upper 20’s and low 30’s with gusty/breezy winds.
