Detailed Forecast for February 1, 2017
An unsettled weather pattern will be the trend has we head through the remainder of the week and even into the weekend. This means skies will stay fairly cloudy, winds will stay gusty and we’ll hold on to the chance for scattered snow showers and even a wintry mix for the lower valleys. Heavy snow will stay isolated into the mountains.
Wednesday, mostly cloudy with widespread off-and-on rain/snow showers. Locations over 6500 feet near the ID/WY state line will see 4-8 inches of new snow. Mountain locations below 6500 feet will see about 2-4 inches of new snow. Valley locations will see a rain/snow mix with daytime highs in the low to mid-30’s. It will still be gusty for most of the region.
Tonight, partial clearing with a few snow showers lingering into the mountains. Winds staying breezy with lows dropping into the 10’s and 20’s. Chance of snow 30%.
Thursday, more widespread rain/snow showers with the snow level rising to around 5000 – 5500 feet. Daytime highs in the upper 20’s and low 30’s with gusty/breezy winds.
Friday, more widespread rain/snow showers with snow levels staying above 5500 feet. Valley locations, and spots along the Snake River Plain have the potential for pockets of ponding and flooding as rain falls on top of snow and frozen ground. Keep an eye on low lying areas on your property. Daytime highs will be in the upper 20’s and upper 30’s with breezy conditions.
