Murder trial for Martin Ish delayed again
The murder trial for Martin Ish has once again been continued.
The jury trial was scheduled to start Tuesday, but has been pushed back. Martin Ish’s son, Anthony Ish, was convicted this week of second-degree murder for shooting Darrell Auck.
Because both Martin Ish and Anthony Ish’s cases are in the same county, and have been highly publicized, Martin Ish’s attorneys felt he would not receive a fair trial in Bannock County.
A judge ruled it would likely be tough to find an impartial jury locally. Prosecutors said the court will now look at selecting the jury out of Twin Falls and bringing them to Bannock County for the trial.
There is no timeline on when the jurors will be selected, or when Martin Ish’s trial will be rescheduled.
Martin Ish is standing trial for first-degree murder for beating Lorne “Red Elk” to death outside Duffy’s Bar in Pocatello in 2009.
