State disaster declared for Mini-Cassia region

Governor Butch Otter has signed a state disaster order for Minidoka County, where some 70 miles of roads are currently closed. Runoff water has washed away some roads.
But, state officials are worried about dairies. They said overflowing ponds are sending waste into areas that could pose health risks. Although damage assessments are still underway, early damage assessments are estimated to be at least $650,000. Minidoka County is asking resident to report their damage assessments to help identify the impact to the community.
