UPDATE: Missing skier found alive near Jackson Hole resort
A skier missing in Grand Teton National Park since Monday has been found alive.
The Jackson Hole News & Guide reports that the 31-year-old Mike Syverson of Telluride, Colorado, was found about 8 a.m. Wednesday and flown out about two hours later.
The National Park Service says Syverson was treated for “cold-related conditions” at St. John’s Medical Center in Jackson.
Jenny Lake District Ranger Scott Guenther says the man left the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort boundaries on Monday with a friend. The other man was able to return to the resort early Tuesday.
ORIGINAL STORY: A skier is missing in Grand Teton National Park after leaving the boundaries of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort earlier this week.
Jenny Lake District Ranger Scott Guenther says the man left the resort boundaries on Monday with a friend and is believed to be somewhere in Granite Canyon. The other man was able to return to the resort early Tuesday.
The Jackson Hole News & Guide reports high winds and avalanche danger hampered search efforts on Tuesday. Rangers and a Teton County Search and Rescue helicopter planned to resume the search Wednesday.
The resort didn’t open its lifts Tuesday due to the weather.
Officials have not released the name of the missing man.
