Detailed Forecast for February 27, 2017
Another storm system is marching through the region for Monday and Tuesday. We’ll look for scattered snow showers and gusty winds. Northwest flow will remain throughout the week keeping a chance for a few flakes at times but sunshine should also peek out at times after Wednesday. Monday, more off-and-on snow showers and blustery winds. Snow totals will range from about an inch in the valleys (below 6500 feet in elevation) to about 2-4 inches in the higher elevations (above 6500 feet). Winds will average around 20-30 mph with gusts near 4030 mph. Between the snow and winds, travel will be difficult at times and roads will be slick. Tuesday, falling snow totals will be smaller with most places seeing only an additional inch or two, but winds will increase to about 20-25 mph with gusts around 35 mph. Blowing snow will become a concern, especially along mountain passes. Daytime highs topping out in the 20’s with a few spots making it into the low 30’s. Wednesday, skies will start to clear up with some sunshine and snow showers mainly sticking to the ID/WY state line. Winds out of the northwest will keep temperatures cool and mean that blowing snow will still be a problem in a few spots. Daytime highs in the 20’s and low 30’s.
