Detailed Forecast for February 28, 2017

With another wave of moisture moving in, expect a very windy day with gusts up to 50 mph. We’ll look for more scattered snow showers and gusty winds. Northwest flow will remain throughout the week keeping a chance for a few flakes at times but sunshine should also peek out at times after Wednesday. Tuesday, falling snow totals will be smaller with most places seeing only an additional inch or two, but winds will increase to about 25-35 mph with gusts around 45 mph. Blowing snow will become a concern, especially along mountain passes and open fields. Daytime highs topping out in the 20’s with a few spots making it into the low 30’s. Tonight, partial clearing with a few flurries possible. Winds dying down and lows dropping into the teens. Chance of snow 20%. Wednesday, skies will start to clear up with some sunshine and snow showers mainly sticking to the ID/WY state line and Central Mountains. Winds out of the northwest will keep temperatures cool and mean that blowing snow will still be a problem in a few spots. Daytime highs in the 20’s and low 30’s. Thursday, A 20 percent chance of snow. Partly to mostly cloudy, with a high near 35°. Friday, sunny with slightly warmer temps. Daytime highs in the Snake River Plain will hit the upper 30’s.
