Teton Valley Hospital receives certification

Teton Valley Hospital in Driggs has become the first critical access hospital in Idaho to receive STEM II and Stroke III designation, in addition to its recent Trauma Level IV recognition. The designations are emergency-care levels determined by an audit and testing process under the state’s Time Sensitive Emergency Council. “As a rural hospital, it’s essential that we can provide the correct care in the shortest amount of time, which is why our staff has been certified to render this lifesaving care for many years,” said hospital CEO Keith Gnagey. Level III Stroke designation means Teton Valley Hospital offers a stroke team trained in diagnosis and treatment 24/7 and has a neurologist or physician available to assist in diagnosis. The STEM II designation documents the hospital’s cardiac team is trained and certified to treat acute coronary syndromes. “The STEMI and Stroke designations, coupled with the Trauma Level IV recognition, represent an independent validation of TVH’s clinical expertise and commitment to meeting the health care needs of this region,” said Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center CEO Doug Crabtree. EIRMC serves as a referral center to TVHC.
