Update: Controlled access at Pocatello/Chubbuck schools over

Update 4:30 p.m.: According to the school press release, a teenage boy called the Alameda Middle School and threatened to be violent at a school.

Staff was able to trace the number back to a 6th grade student. Police took the student into custody for questions. Officers learned that a group of students had been making prank calls earlier that day. That is when one of the students thought it would be funny to make a prank call to the school.

The controlled access was lifted once officers determined the person they were talking to was responsible for the threat.

Update 10:15 am: The controlled access at Pocatello/Chubbuck schools has ended. The Pocatello/Chubbuck Schoool District says the issue has been resolved and school operations are returning to normal.

Original Story: Pocatello/Chubbuck School District 25 schools are on controlled access as of 9:40 a.m. after one of the district schools received a threatening phone call from a juvenile.

Police and school district officials are cooperating to investigate the threat. Classes at the schools are continuing.
