Man involved in Idaho Falls fatal car crash pleads guilty
The man involved in a fatal car crash that killed two women in September pleaded guilty in court Friday.
California native Nicholas Perea came to court and pleaded guilty to two counts pf vehicular manslaughter.
Judge Steven Gardner sentenced perea to 120 days in the bonneville county jail.
Perea is ordered to pay $1,000 in court costs. He will be placed on probation for four years after his release and his driver’s license will be suspended for two years.
The crash that happened in September, exactly six months ago today, ended the lives of two elderly women and left three other injured.
Witnesses said Perea was going 60 mph on 17th Street in Idaho Falls and hit the car with the two women in it.
Karen Musselman and Jeanne Skinner were killed.
In court, Friday, the family provided statements on how the crash has impacted the family.
Perea told the judge he feels a deep remorse and apologized to the families.
Perea’s next court hearing is scheduled for March 27. He will attempt to get a lesser sentence. He will have another court hearing in August for his fine payments.
