Prosecutor issues conclusion of investigative review of Tapp murder case
Bonneville County Prosecutor Daniel Clark has completed his review of an independent investigation into the claims of convicted murderer Christopher Tapp.
This is the first time that Clark has commented publicly on Tapp’s claims of innocence.
Clark said the only issue his office is considering is whether sufficient credible clear and convincing evidence exists that Tapp is innocent, based on the investigation he requested. And, he said the investigation did not uncover any evidence of Tapp’s innocence.
Clark said it was his opinion there is no evidence that Tapp made false statements which were treated as confessions. He said Tapp’s confessions prior to or after his murder trial do not support his claim of innocence.
The prosecutor does not believe that DNA evidence support’s Tapp’s claim of innocence.
Clark’s opinion will not have direct impact on two court cases Tapp’s attorneys are currently pursuing to overturn his conviction. You can read the full statement in the attached document below.
