One dead in crash on I-15 near Arimo

UPDATE: 2:00 p.m.

Idaho State Police say Kathleen Garcia, 36, of American Falls was killed in a multi-vehicle crash at milepost 40 on Interstate 15 near Arimo at around 6:12 a.m. Wednesday.

According to ISP, Garcia was driving southbound in a 2004 Saturn Ion. She struck the rear of a 2015 Freightliner driven by Shane Jones, 41, of Pocatello. Garcia’s vehicle went off the shoulder, overcorrected and rolled coming to rest in the wrong direction of the interstate. The car was then struck again by a 2008 Peterbuilt, driven by Dale Dean,52, of Hermiston, Oregon.

Garcia was wearing her seatbelt but died of her injuries at the scene.

The crash is still under investigation.

Idaho State Police are investigating a three-vehicle crash on I-15 near Arimo. The left lane is currently blocked on the interstate.

According to a press release from ISP it happened at milepost 40.

So far, one person is dead- their name has not been released. We will update you with more information as it becomes available.
