Cattle and passengers safe after cattle truck caught fire
A cattle truck driver, Dexter Van Orden, recognized his truck was on fire, stopped in the roadway to keep weeds catching on fire, unloaded his cattle and used a fire extinguisher to keep the fire at bay until emergency crews could arrive Wednesday.
The Bureau of Land Management, the Ammon Fire Department and the Idaho Falls Fire Department responded to Kepps Crossing Road to help put out the flames.
Officials said the fire was caused by a mechanical fire in the engine area.Two children were in the truck and were able to get out.
Officials report nobody was hurt.
