College of Eastern Idaho wins academic degree approval

The State Board of Education has approved, added and accredited the first academic degree program to be offered at the new College of Eastern Idaho. It will be an Associate of Arts degree, with emphasis on Liberal Arts. All degree programs previously offered by Eastern Idaho Technical College will be continued. The board took the action during regular meetings on the Idaho State University campus in Pocatello Thursday. Interim CEI President Rick Aman said the board also approved a Bingham County petition to expand the Bonneville County community college taxing district. The action on that resolution allows Bingham County to hold an election in November. If approved by a simple majority, Bingham County would become part of the district.
