Chubbuck Days celebration

It was an all-day party for Chubbuck on Saturday as its annual “Chubbuck Days” celebration took over the town.

The celebrations started with a parade on Saturday morning. The city had a great turnout for the parade. It had dozens of businesses, organizations, pageant royalty, tribal dancers, live animals and favorite kids characters to fill the streets.

The Chubbuck Days celebration continued after the parade at Stuart Park. There were vendors, games and Home Depot even had a space where kids could make their own wood projects, like a sailboat or birdhouse. Chubbuck Mayor Kevin Englad said they had so many vendors interested in being part of Chubbuck Days that they had to turn some away this year because they just didn’t have the space.

Chubbuck mayor Kevin England said this celebration has been happening for years and it’s always a wonderful event. He said it’s important to remind the community what Chubbuck has to offer.

England said while Chubbuck and Pocatello work closely together and support each other, and that’s invaluable, it’s nice to show that Chubbuck is unique on its own too.

“There really is a separation in the communities,” England said. “We like the oneness but it’s important for us to have our own identities too. Pocatello does a good job of creating theirs and I think Chubbuck’s doing the same kinds of things.”

People of all ages found something to like about Chubbuck Days.

“I like it….I love it,” said Baylee McCurdy. “Because you get to go and have fun with your friends and stuff.”

“I think Chubbuck Days is just fun to hang out with your friends and family and it’s just so fun and I love doing everything with my family,” said Madison Carranza.

“It’s just great to see families out enjoying the sunshine and you know, Chubbuck is just a great community and glad that people are supporting it,” said Karla Alex, one of the vendors at Stuart Park for the celebration.

“We absolutely love it,” Englad said. “To be able to rub shoulders with the people, to be able to sit and talk with them about just common everyday things, is a real opportunity and benefit for our community and we’re grateful for it.”

England said Chubbuck Days is typically held the second Saturday in August each year.
