Food For Friends giveaway Week 2

We want to announce our “Food for Friends” winner for the second week. Mary Robinson is our winner this week from our website. She wins a $200 gift card from Albertsons. For every gift card it gives away on our website, Albertsons will match that same amount for a local family in need.

KIDK Eyewitness News 3 gave that gift card away Monday. We met up at Eastern Idaho Community Action Partnership. There we met Leona. We surprised her when the staff brought her into the conference room.

“You’ve got scrubs on,” said KIDK Eyewitness News 3 anchor Todd Kunz.

“I do,” said Leona.

“What do you do for work?” Kunz asked.

“Home health care.,” said Leona.

“Really?” said Kunz.

“I love it,” said Leona.

“Why do you love it so much?” Kunz asked.

“I love taking care of people. I love helping. I love being of service,” replied Leona.

“That’s fantastic. In today’s day and age, that’s sometimes hard to find sometimes. And those people really depend on you,” said Kunz.

“They do. They do. I grew up with a handicapped brother. I’ve been on the other side. I understand the hard work that is taking care of someone, and then you need a break, and then you need someone you can trust to take care of your family,” said Leona.

“Can we help take care of you a little bit? Can we do that?” asked Kunz.

“I guess,” said Leona.

“I’ve got my good friend Steve over here. You know Steve Cannon, right? Here he comes,” said Kunz, referring to Cannon walking across the room toward them.

“Leona, we’ve heard some good things about you; about taking care of business. And so now it’s time for us to take care of business — in the form of a $200 gift card to Albertsons just for you,” said Cannon.

“Thank you,” said Leona.

“You’re welcome,” said Cannon.

There are five more chances to win. Click here for your chance to win a $200 gift card from Albertsons. Or click under the “marketplace” tab at the top of this page and look for “Food for Friends.” Albertsons will also match those cards to give to those in need.
