UPDATE: Pocatello standoff ends with one in custody

Police released the name of the victim, Melvin P. Foster, 47, who is currently in critical condition at the Portneuf Hospital for stab wounds.

Officials said, on Tuesday, Foster, an unidentified female and Jonathan Adam Oresco were at 1730 W. Quinn Road in Pocatello when an argument started. During the fight, police said Oresco stabbed Foster multiple times. Foster ran away to get help from neighbors and they called 911.

Officials said Oresco ran away and forcibly entered a home on 1900 W. Quinn Road Officers followed Oresco to the home and were safely able to get the homeowner out. Oresco then barricaded himself inside a room. Officers secured the residence and waited for negotiators and a SWAT team. After three hours of negotiating, Oresco did not want to cooperate anymore.

The SWAT team then moved in and was able to arrest Oresco.

On Wednesday afternoon, he appeared before a judge for an arraignment. Currently he is being held on one count of possession of Methamphetamines. His bail is set at $30,000.

The Pocatello Police Department said this is still an active investigation. More charges could be brought against Oresco at a later date.

UPDATE: 08/15/17 9:00 P.M.

A more than three-hour standoff at a mobile home park in Pocatello ended Tuesday night.

Pocatello Police arrested 55-year-old Jonathan Adam Oresco at 7:45 p.m. after the SWAT team entered the home and removed him.

Oresco was not hurt but taken to Portneuf Medical Center to be medically cleared prior being booked into the Bannock County Jail.

Charges against Oresco are pending and should be filed Wednesday morning.

Police responded to an incident on 1900 W. Quinn in Pocatello at 4:21 p.m. Tuesday where two individuals were in an altercation.

Authorities said one suspect was wounded and was transported to Portneuf Medical Center. The other suspect fled on foot to an abandoned trailer.

Police said the suspect is in trailer #231 at Golden Hills Mobile Home Park.

Police have surrounded and secured the scene, and officers are now negotiating for his peaceful surrender.

At this time there are no hostages, and no civilians are in immediate danger.

Local police have dispatched an ICU to the area.
