Missing hunters found in northwest Wyoming
UPDATE 10/3/17: The search for a missing hunter in northwest Wyoming has ended with two hunters being found safe.
Fremont County Sheriff Jack “Skip” Hornecker says searchers were notified Monday originally of one missing hunter but it turned out that there were two missing.
Hornecker says the two showed up at a ranch about 5:30 p.m. Monday.
He says the hunters were wet and cold with some dehydration issues but otherwise unharmed. They refused medical treatment.
The sheriff says the hunters became disoriented on Sunday because of inclement weather and ended up several miles away from the trailhead where they were to meet another hunter.
Hornecker says the lack of information about the second hunter complicated the search efforts.
He stressed the importance of hunters letting others know details about their plans.

A search is underway for a missing hunter in northwest Wyoming.
The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office was notified about 7:20 a.m. Monday of an overdue hunter in the Dubois area.
The person reporting the missing hunter told the Sheriff’s Office that he and the missing person were supposed to meet Sunday at a trailhead and establish camp ahead of elk hunt. The lost hunter’s vehicle was in the parking lot but there was no sign of the hunting partner.
The lost hunter is described as a 63-year-old white male who is about 6-foot-4, 260 pounds.
Searchers were dispatched on horseback and on ATVs to look for the man.
