Memorial procession to honor fire Captain

Jackson Hole Fire/EMS will lead a funeral procession October 14 for Fire Captain Mike Tepe, who lost a battle with cancer.

Due to the type of cancer, the state of Wyoming considers it as an “In the Line of Duty Death.”

The procession will begin at 2 p.m. at the Wilson Fire Station with a funeral service to follow at the Conference Center of Jackson Hole at 920 West Broadway at approximately 3 p.m. Ladder trucks and other fire apparatus will honor Tepe as his ashes are transported from Wilson into Jackson.

The general public is asked not to drive or enter a vehicle in the procession, but people are encouraged to line the procession route and show their respect.

“This is a sad and somber time for the Tepe family, our agency, and the community as a whole,” said Fire Chief Brady Hansen. “We have known for a while that this day was coming. As a department, we have begun planning for a memorial service and a tribute to Captain Tepe. I would ask that our community go the extra mile to look out for one another during this time.”
