Melonie Smith found guilty

A Bingham County jury has found Melonie Smith guilty of murder in the first degree for the killing of David Lee Davis and Felony Destruction, Concealment, and Alteration of Evidence for the destruction and alteration to David Lee Davis’ body.

“I am deeply gratified with today’s verdict and I hope it provides some measure of solace to the victim’s family in this matter and the Melonie Dawn Smith has been held accountable for the heinous murder of David Lee Davis.” says Bingham County Prosecutor Cleve Colson.

Smith will be sentenced on December 1st, 2017 at 1:30.

She faces a minimum of 10 years to life for the first degree murder conviction.

She faces five years for the destruction, concealment and altercation of evidence conviction.
