Evan Simpson Sworn in to Represent House District 21
Evan Simpson of Afton was sworn in as a member of the 64th Wyoming Legislature on Friday in the House Chamber of the Jonah Business Center in Cheyenne. Wyoming Supreme Court Chief Justice E. James Burke administered the oath of office.
Rep. Simson was joined by members of the Wyoming Legislature, legislative staff and family members at the brief ceremony.
Following the administration of the oath of office from Justice Burke, fellow legislators welcomed Simpson to the Wyoming Legislature. Simpson addressed the well-wishers during the ceremony stating that he looked forward to serving the citizens of Lincoln County and the State of Wyoming.
“This opportunity presented itself, and I have a new zest for life. It will be hard to fill Robert McKim’s shoes, but I will try my best,” Simpson said.
Simpson was appointed by the Lincoln County Commissioners to serve the residents of House District 21 on Oct. 3 to fill the vacant seat left by former Rep. Robert McKim who resigned Sept. 12.
Speaker of the Wyoming House Steve Harshman also announced that Rep. Simpson will replace Rep. McKim on the House Agriculture, State and Public Lands Committee. Rep. John Eklund will replace Rep. McKim on the Select Water Committee.
