Two transported to hospital after crash in Chubbuck

Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle, injury crash westbound I-86 at milepost 61, in Chubbuck around 1:33 a.m. Saturday.

ISP reports 77-year-old Ramiro Sanchez Valles of Rupert was westbound on I-86 at milepost 61 in a 2006 Jeep Wrangler when his Jeep was struck by an unknown vehicle from behind.

The Jeep went off the median shoulder, rolled and came to rest in the median.

Both Sanchez Valles and his passenger, 73-year-old Juanita Sanchez of Rupert, were transported by ground ambulance to Portneuf Regional Medical Center in Pocatello.

ISP said Sanchez Valles was wearing his seatbelt.

The left westbound lane of travel was blocked for approximately 50 minutes, and the left eastbound lane of travel was blocked for approximately 25 minutes.

The crash is under investigation by Idaho State Police.
