Pocatello woman in critical condition after vehicle versus pedestrian crash

A Pocatello woman is in the hospital after a vehicle versus pedestrian crash on Interstate 15 at milepost 64, one mile north of the Portneuf Road or Fort Hall Mine Road exit around 10:16 a.m. Thursday.

Idaho State Police reports 72-year-old Gary Woodward of Canada was driving northbound in a Peterbilt truck when 39-year-old Shannon McKinney of Pocatello who was on foot near milepost 64 entered the roadway and was struck by Woodward’s Peterbilt.

ISP said McKinney was transported by ground ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center. She was listed in critical condition Thursday afternoon.

Northbound traffic was blocked for several minutes while Emergency Medical Services responded.

ISP reports the incident is under investigation.
