Early voting underway in Bannock County

Early voting has been underway in Bannock County for just under two weeks.

The elections office said so far, it has received a total of 430 ballots. It said there have been more voters this week than last week. The elections team said that’s a little lower than average, but not unexpected. Staff said they see this every election and that voting always picks up the closer it gets to election day.

The elections office said the last mayoral election in Pocatello had a lower turnout, but they hope to see bigger numbers this year, especially with the Bannock County jail bond back on the ballot.

The elections office encourages people to vote early and avoid possible long lines and a wait on election day.

The last day to request a mail-in ballot is 5 p.m. Oct. 27 and the last day for early voting is Nov. 3.

The Bannock County elections office is open for voting Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

For information on what precinct you are in, call the elections office at 208-236-7333 or check out the county’s website for voter information and a list of candidates.

If you are not currently registered to vote in Bannock County, you can do so in person when you go to vote. You just need a current ID and a piece of mail showing your Bannock County address.
