Pine Ridge Mall sees good business for holiday shopping
Christmas is just days away and many are still trying to find the right gifts to put under the tree, pushing them to stores for their last minute shopping.
The Pine Ridge Mall in Chubbuck said all season, holiday shopping has been busy and it expects to continue to pick up the closer it gets to Christmas.
Drake Taylor, general manager of the mall, said 2017 is unique in that it has an extra weekend of shopping in December than a typical year, adding business for retailers and more time to find those perfect gifts for shoppers.
Taylor said the weekend before Christmas will be their busiest time so far this year. In fact, Taylor said Dec. 23 is expected to be the biggest shopping day of the year – even bigger than Black Friday.
Taylor said with more occupants and new stores in the mall, business has been great – even better this year than the last few years.
“Both foot traffic and sales have been amazing – much more than we’ve actually ever seen,” Taylor said. “Since I’ve been here, since the new owners have owned the mall, it’s very positive, a lot going on.”
Taylor said the mall has tried to host lots of community events as a way to bring people to the mall and provide them with a shopping experience that they just can’t get online.
During the holidays, Pine Ridge Mall has extended hours for some of its day.
