Four Idaho Falls Police officers promoted

Four Idaho Falls Police officers have been promoted and re-assigned in new leadership positions.

Chief Bryce Johnson announced that 23-year veteran Sergeant Scott Killian was promoted to Lieutenant and will be transferred from detectives to patrol.
He has served as a patrol officer, a Neighborhood Police Officer, a Detective Sergeant, a Field Training Officer and an Emergency Vehicle Operations instructor. His childhood dream was to be a police officer.

Detective Jessica Marley has been with Idaho Falls Police for 16 years.
She was promoted to Sergeant and will be transferred from detectives to patrol. She began working in patrol, served as a neighborhood policing officer, was a member of the SWAT team for 9 years, worked in warrants and then as a detective. Marley has also trained 14 new officers for the IFPD. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work from Idaho State University and a Master of Social Work degree from Northwest Nazarene University. Prior to joining the IFPD, Marley worked for five years for the Dept. of Health & Welfare as a child abuse investigator.

Officer Jed Lewis is a 19-year veteran, 7 with the Idaho Falls Police.
He was promoted to Sergeant and will remain in patrol. He has worked primarily in patrol and as a Field Training Officer. Lewis served over 15 years in the military and was deployed in Iraq. He served as a Sergeant in both the United States Marine Corps and the Army National Guard. He is an instructor for the IFPD and for police academies throughout the state.

And, Detective Tim Downs has worked with the Idaho Falls Police Department for 23 years.
He was promoted to Sergeant and was transferred from detectives to patrol. He has served as a patrol officer, warrants team member, a Police Training Officer, a member of the SWAT team, a School Resource Officer, and most recently as a Detective in the Investigations Bureau. Downs is a Veteran of the United States Air Force and was activated by the USAF in 2001 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He retired in 2009 after 21 years as a non-commissioned officer. Downs holds a M.S. in Management and Leadership from Western Governors University, a B.S. in Human Resources Training and Development from Idaho State University, and an A.A.S. in Security Administration from the Community College of the Air Force. He holds an Idaho Peace Officer Master’s Certificate and is an Idaho Peace Officer Certified Firearms and High Liability Training Instructor.
