Firewise community meeting set Saturday in Driggs

Homeowners living in or near the Teton Basin Ranger District boundaries are invited to a community Wildfire Preparedness Day Saturday.

A variety of booths and demonstrations are planned at the District Ranger Office in Driggs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

District Ranger Jay Pence said the program is designed to help homeowners learn about “Firewise” landscaping and how to develop emergency evacuation plans. It will also include personal preparedness for everything from wildfire to earthquakes.

Homeowners may also learn how to receive a free home ignition zone evaluation.

Free burgers, hot dogs, and a visit from Smokey Bear are also planned.
