Pocatello man continues National Day of Prayer tradition

Thursday is the National Day of Prayer, and one local man is continuing his tradition.

For the fifth year, pastor Jim Jones of the Blazing Grace Church is sitting outside Pocatello City Hall offering a prayer to anyone who wishes to join him.

“You know, I’m not here to force people to do anything,” Jones said, “but we are here to give prayer to anyone that needs it.”

Jones spends twelve hours, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., praying outside City Hall each year.

The day has been observed every year on the first Thursday of May since 1952.
