Prescribed fire in Teton Valley

The Teton Basin Ranger District is conducting a prescribed fire within the Red Creek Prescribed Burn Project Area, just north of Highway 31 near Pine Creek Pass.

Fire managers say they will take advantage of snow drifts and high ground moisture to keep the 40 acre fire from spreading. The remainder of prescribed burns in that area will happen in September or October, according to District Ranger Jay Pence.

The object is to reduce hazardous fuel loadings and stimulate aspen regeneration to improve wildlife habitat.
