Signs like this are going up across the state

The Farmers Market season officially begins in Idaho this weekend.

Idaho Falls and Pocatello will be among the first to begin selling local food and agricultural products. Statewide, there are 45 markets planning to operate at some time during the summer.

Idaho Falls’ market will be on River Parkway, each Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The first Pocatello market will be open Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm through October 27 at 420 North Main in Old Town.

“Farmers markets continue to be an important part of many communities in Idaho and provide access to locally grown food,” says Skylar Jett, Idaho State Department of Agriculture Trade Specialist. “They provide a venue for the community to come together to support Idaho’s farmers and producers as well as the local economy”.

ISDA has prepared a Farmers Market directory to help shoppers find the market nearest them.

Later this summer, Idaho Farmers Market Week will be recognized in conjunction with National Farmers Market Week from August 4 – 10. Farmers markets will host a variety of events throughout the week.
