Police chief candidates hold public forum
The final three candidates for Pocatello Police Chief met the public Monday night.
Candidates introduced themselves and said why they should be considered for the position.
Community members were able to meet with the candidates personally on an informal level.
“Experience. I’ve had a lot of experience in the job maturity and just really a strong desire to serve the community and the department that I have worked with the people with so long worked in that basically in my presentation I said I grew up here.” Said Jim Peterson, a Retired Deputy Chief of the Pocatello Police Department. “Truly that’s the case I started here. Young 22-year-old and so I grew up here and so this place means a lot to me and I have a strong desire to and have the knowledge and the skills to lead the department into the future.”
“I think I bring an outside perspective.” Said Brian Underwood, a United States Marshal with the Department of Justice. “I started as a Pocatello police officer and then I’ll be coming back outside experience perspective, which I think is good for an organization it gives you a chance. In the future gives you a chance to look at the org chart and see how you can adjust yourself to meet the needs of a growing city.”
Deputy Chief of the Pocatello Police Department, Roger Schei said, “I have a clear vision, mission, and values that lead the vision and the mission. So I believe in the department we have the best people. And I have insight on how to use those people most effectively and efficiently.”
