Portneuf Valley Farmer’s Market kick’s off it’s season

Farmer’s markets across the state kicked off their season Saturday.

The Portneuf Valley Farmer’s Market in Pocatello and opened to large crowds out to enjoy the sun and fun.

Vendors were offering everything from organic produce and new garden starts to food and hand made artisan crafts.

Farmer’s Markets are a great way to shop local and reduce your carbon footprint.

“It’s a lot of fun, you get to be out with people and see the community altogether, you can see what everyone is growing.” Said Wendy Swore, the Portneuf Valley Farmer’s Market President. “You can get your food right here in the same area where it’s grown. You have a really small carbon footprint because it doesn’t have to travel a long way to get to you, and you know it’s fresh because it’s picked the same day or the night before and it’s just a really fun sense of community here, I would welcome everybody out.”

The Portneuf Valley Farmer’s Market will be open every Saturday through October from 9 AM to 1 PM at the Old Town Pavillion on the corner of Main and Fremont Avenue.
