Idaho Falls school board chair steps down

Idaho Falls School Board Chair Deidre Warden says she is stepping down from the position due to family obligations. Her resignation was effective Wednesday.

Warden represented Zone 5 since 2008.

“It has been an honor to serve on the Board of Trustees for the last eleven years. Our district continues to operate with strong leadership and dedicated teachers and staff,” Warden said. “It is my firm belief that strong public schools are instrumental in helping each child succeed in their lives.”

Anyone interested in filling her unexpired term should submit a letter of interest to the District 91 administrative office at 690 John Adams Parkway by 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 17.

The Zone 5 area includes the Hawthorne, Longfellow, and Sunnyside elementary schools.

Candidates must be 18 years of age or older, a U.S. citizen and resident of Idaho, and a resident of Zone 5.

The full school board will interview candidates May 21 and hope to swear in a replacement on June 12. The position will be up for election in November.
