Regional deans to oversee new doctor candidates

The Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine in Meridian has created ten new positions.

Regional Assistant Deans will be assigned to overview medical students’ third and fourth years in clinical clerkships. Those rotations are conducted at core-affiliated hospital and outpatient facilities throughout the country. The rotations are all completed with contracted, accredited physicians.

The regional deans will facilitate the medical students’ educational experience.

Among the new deans, R. Lee Biggs, DO, MPH, FACOG, CPE, will oversee students at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.

Brandon West, DO, was named to oversee students in the Pocatello region, including Portneuf Medical Center.

Others are assigned to Boise, Treasure Valley, New York, North and South Dakota, Montana, and Twin Falls.

“ICOM’s Regional Assistant Deans are a group of talented physician leaders who are developing incredible training opportunities for our medical students,” said Dr. Kevin Wilson, ICOM Interim Dean. “These physicians will be instrumental to our students’ experiences during clinical rotations.”
