3 Idaho Falls fire agencies prepare for fire season

The Idaho Falls Fire Department, along with the Idaho National Laboratory Fire Department and Central Fire District, spent the day conducting a 50-acre prescribed burn for wildfire risk reduction.

Last year, 81 Idaho Falls firefighters were deployed to 8 different states to fight 41 different wildfires.

All together they served 714 days on the frontlines. They expect another busy wildland fire season.

Idaho Falls Fire department recruited 9 new firefighters. Together the three agency trained and experienced first hand on how to fight wildfire first hand.

“We are preparing for the real world,” Idaho Falls Firefighter Paramedic Bill Arsenault said. “We can control the chaos now. So when it’s full telt, our men and women in the Idaho Falls Fire Department and other agencies are going to be more prepared to engage and do it at a level that makes everybody a little more safer.”

Over the next serval weeks, the three agencies and other fire departments in Idaho will be continuing wildland fire preparations.
