Challis woman killed in crash

Idaho State Police reports an 80-year-old Challis woman died after a single vehicle crash eastbound US20-26-93 at milepost 216, near Carey Tuesday around 3:23 p.m.

Lawana Knox was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer eastbound on US20-26-93 at milepost 216 and went off the shoulder. ISP reports Knox’s vehicle went down an embankment and collided with lava rock.

Air ambulance transported Knox to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise where she succumbed to her injuries later that evening.

ISP said next of kin have been notified.

Knox was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
