Elk Refuge manager re-assigned to Alaska
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) has named Brian Glaspell its new Assistant Regional Director for Refuges in the State of Alaska.
Glaspell has been serving as manager of the National Elk Refuge in Jackson since January of 2017.
In his new post, Glaspell will help manage 16 wildlife refuges in Alaska, covering 77 million acres. He’ll begin his new duties in the USFWS Regional Office in Anchorage in late July.
Prior to his arrival at the 24,700 acre Wyoming wildlife refuge, Glaspell served as manager of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in his home state of Alaska, handling intense national and international media coverage.
Deputy Refuge Manager Cris Dippel will serve as the National Elk Refuge’s Acting Manager until a permanent replacement is named.
