Wanted suspect arrested in Utah
UPDATE 6-12 8:15 a.m.: The man accused of stealing a 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck Sunday has been arrested in Utah.
Timothy R. Mitchell, 43, of Heber City, Utah ran away from police during a traffic stop by Logan, Utah Police on Tuesday. Mitchell was riding a motorcycle, believed to have been stolen in the Osgood, Idaho area noon Monday. He was pulled over for having no visible vehicle registration. He crashed the bike into a field before police caught up to him.
Mitchell is facing charges in Utah including possession of a stolen vehicle, being a felon in possession of a firearm, evading police, and reckless driving. He was also charged with a felony warrant out of Minnesota for violating parole on a prior charge of strong-armed rape.
Mitchell will also face multiple felony charges in Idaho.
Idaho State Police said Mitchell’s story began around 3:10 p,.m. Sunday when he was spotted near the Interstate 15, Sage Junction Port of Entry in Jefferson County. He was driving a pickup reported stolen in Minnesota. Troopers tried to pull him over, but Mitchell sped away, then drove off the road and through adjacent fields. Neither Mitchell nor the vehicle were found.
Then, on Monday, at around 12:12 p.m., ISP was advised by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office that a resident reported locating the wanted pickup and that the resident’s red and white Honda motorcycle was stolen from the same location. The name of the suspect was still unknown and still at-large.
On Tuesday, Mitchell showed up in Utah.
Idaho State Police said they had multiple tips from the public that ultimately led to Mitchell’s arrest and ended the 3-day manhunt.

A stolen brown Chevy pickup truck that fled from Idaho State Police troopers Sunday was recovered Monday afternoon in Jefferson County.
Idaho State Police reports the suspect stole a small red and white Honda motorcycle and was last seen at 9:13 a.m. at the Osgood Convenience Store in Osgood. ISP says the suspect and the motorcycle are still at large. If you see him, do not approach, and call your local law enforcement or Idaho State Police dispatch at (208) 525-7277.
The investigation is ongoing.
