2 hospitalized in US 26 crash
RIRIE, Idaho (KIFI/KIDK) - UPDATE 6:00 p.m. Idaho State Police report two people were hospitalized after a crash westbound on US 26 at mile marker 343, west of Ririe around 2:44 p.m. Monday.
ISP reports Lawrence Meleskie, 66, of Ririe, was driving westbound on US26 in a 2003 GMC Sierra, and J. Scott Shipton, 56, of Rigby, was driving eastbound on US26 in a 2017 Nissan Murano.
According to police, Meleskie attempted to pass a snow-plow, failed to maintain lanes crossing over the center line, and struck the Murano.
A ground ambulance transported Meleskie and Shipton to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
They were both wearing a seatbelt.
The lanes travel were blocked for approximately one hour.
Idaho State Police reminds drivers to use extra caution when driving around snow-plows.
UPDATE 4:00 p.m. Idaho State Police reports all lanes are open.
No other information was released.
ORIGINAL: Idaho State Police is investigating a crash on US 26 at milepost 343, west of Ririe.
Both eastbound lanes of travel are blocked, and one westbound lane of travel is blocked.
