April showers have brought May flowers as gardeners are back out
AMMON, Idaho (KIFI) - Many were back out at their local garden centers this week to pick many plants, fruits, seeds, shrubs and trees. Spring is back in the air, and the weather forecast shows warmer days ahead.
Sunnyside Gardens have had all of their greenery planted this past January. The longer winter made them keep most of their plants in the warmer greenhouse longer. Frosts have been a concern over the past few weeks as well. Experts say we usually have our last frost of the year around May 22. If there is another frost ahead, covering your plants is the best and easiest way to keep them healthy.
Many came to the garden center wanting to bring home colorful flowers and try out new fruits. Dennis and Sydney Wagner were looking to stock up their own empty greenhouse with plenty of new tasty treats.
Others have bug problems. Kendall Christensen mentioned he had to take care of multiple wasp nests on his basketball goal and on his house.
Everyone who came though was enthusiastic to be back outdoors again.
