Police with batons approach Israel-Hamas war protesters at UC Santa Cruz

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (AP) — Police with batons have approached protesters at the University of California, Santa Cruz. It isn’t immediately clear from video early Friday if there have been any arrests or injuries. The university is holding classes remotely. Pro-Palestinian protesters have blocked the main entrance to campus this week. University leaders have called on the protesters to “immediately reopen full access to the campus” and say “denying instructional access is not free speech.” Police on Thursday cleared a pro-Palestinian encampment at a Detroit campus, and students walked out during commencement at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
