Hot temps with thunderstorms; Red Flag Warning posted for Tuesday

For Monday evening, we’re looking for some scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 11pm. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low temperature around 55° for the Snake River Plain. Winds will be out of the southwest around 10 to 15 mph becoming south southeast in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. The chance of precipitation is 30%.

Partly sunny with a few thunderstorms for Tuesday. Afternoon temperatures are pushing to the upper 80’s and lower 90’s. Winds will be out of the southwest around 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

On Wednesday, there will be a few afternoon thunderstorms and showers. Partly cloudy with a high temperature near 90°, with the afternoon winds as well.

Sunny and hot for Thursday and Friday with high temperatures near 90°.

Even warmer temperatures are expected this weekend with high temperatures around 100° for the Snake River Plain.

RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM TO 9 PM MDT TUESDAY FOR SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS:

The National Weather Service in Pocatello has issued a Red Flag Warning for scattered thunderstorms, which is in effect from 2 PM to 9 PM MDT Tuesday.

  • AFFECTED AREA…Fire Weather Zone 413 Caribou Range/Caribou NF and Fire Weather Zone 427 Goose Creek and Raft River Valley/Southern Sawtooth NF/Twin Falls BLM south of the Snake River.
  • IMPACTS…Critical fire weather conditions are expected to develop Tuesday. Lightning may generate new fire starts. New starts may spread rapidly.
  • THUNDERSTORMS…Both wet and dry thunderstorms expected with 25 to 35 percent coverage.
  • OUTFLOW WINDS…Gusts of 30 to 40 mph are possible.
